18 Week Dr. Ultrasound

Today we went to the OB to have our 18 week ultrasound to make sure Ms. Annabelle is doing well.  I am happy to report she is doing just fine and growing on schedule.  During the ultrasound they measured her head, bones in her arms and legs, the vessels in her heart, and the space in between the bones in her head.  They also looked at the umbilical cord and her kidneys and all looks good!

She was moving around in there but as always she was sucking on her hands.  When we  started the ultrasound she was laying head down by my cervix but she ended up moving so she was laying on her side.  She never wants to turn around though so she remained face down.  We saw her little hand wave across the screen and we saw her tiny foot press up, so cool.

She is still a she and I think it is safe to say that after 3 checks it would be nothing short of a miracle if she came out as a he.  I think the ultrasound tech was disappointed that we already had found out what it was during a 3D ultrasound, them's the breaks lady.

I would post pictures but it's getting late and I don't have them scanned in.  Jerry and I have a 6am flight out in the morning to head north to see my family in New England.   I will post some of the pictures we got when we get back.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and week!

Nursery is Officially Underway!

We did a lot of putting together furniture this weekend and moving the tree decal to another wall because once the crib and the dresser was in the room it just seemed as though it was making the crib look out of place.  I am loving now it is turning out.

Although the butterfly mobile is larger than expected it works and adds a nice whimsy to the room.  It is off in the corner and when it moves around it comes our over the crib a little and the dresser.

Once we get back from our vacation we will need to work on getting the molding and paint it and get it up around the room between the two colors.

We don't have a mattress yet so no it isn't your eyes I just laid the sheet there to show you the colors of the wild flower sheets we have.  :-)

It is coming together nicely and it was fun this weekend to see some of it get put togehter.

3D4 Ultrasound Update - 17 Weeks

Yesterday we went for our FREE followup 3D/4D ultrasound at Prenatal Peek.  First off she is still a she!  As usual she was  laying face down and didn't really want to turn over for us much at all.  She seems to love her hands and it looked like she was sucking her thumb again.  She is getting bigger and space is getting tight for her so I am hoping that I will feel her move soon.

It is amazing to see her kicking around inside me and touching her face.  Jerry said it is amazing that there is a little human inside of me.  Yes it is amazing and a little miracle.

The video was not as good as last time so we are not going to post that but here are some of the better 3D4 pictures from yesterday.

Waving hi as she touches her face.  She is still a little pumpkin
and doesn't have her baby fat yet but she is so beautiful.

Touching her face and cuddling up.

To us it looks like she is sucking her thumb here.

17 Weeks:  "Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop."

Nursery:  This weekend we put together the crib and bureau along with the nightstand.  Things went pretty well and we only had a few mishaps.  I first started with the nightstand and had to call in Jerry to help me figure out how the first couple of pieces went together because it wasn't lining up then ding dong me started nailing on the back upside down.. ugh... Again Jerry saved the day and was able to get the backing off without breaking it.  The bureau went together without any trouble but took a bit of time.

The crib we put together last night and the only incident we had was Jerry cut himself when trying to get open the hardware, darn scissors!

I got my kit to make her a quilt and I am very happy with it.  I will post a picture and the details later.  The seller was very fast to ship (it was an Etsy find) and she sent me an email to give you all a discount.

I also received little bird decals I ordered as a custom order from another Etsy shop and we are very happy with those.   I am not so happy with the seller of the alphabet letters, she has had my order for 24 days and has yet to ship them.  She told me early last week (after I asked) that her daughter broke a letter so she had to do it over and she would ship it the next day, then the next day she didn't ship it and again said "tomorrow."  We are going on vacation Friday and I don't want them sitting on the porch while we are away for a week.  I am very annoyed with her at this point and I will be sure to leave my feedback on her site.

Baby Things:  Yesterday while we were out getting our nails done (needed a pedi more than you can imagine) and shopping for clothes we found a few things for little Ms. Annabelle at Old Navy and TJ Max (so cute).  I have a few things for her but I am holding off on buying a lot of clothing.

This is going to be a busy week as we get ready to fly up to see Family in New England this Friday and we will be gone for 10 days.  We are going to Maine first then driving down to Mass then it's off to Connecticut then home.... So if you don't hear from me for a while don't worry :-)

Boxes, Envelopes and Cards Oh My...

This afternoon when I got home from our team outing at work (mini golf) I was greeted by a couple of boxes an envelope and a card.

Card:  My old collage buddy Sarah sent me the sweetest card to congratulate us on our little girl.  She also wants to come down to visit after the baby is born and I can't wait!! It will be nice to have a good friend visit and  she also offered to let me sleep and I am sure I am going to need it.  The card was so nice and so unexpected.  Sarah has always been so very thoughtful and I miss having her around.  Sarah K you rock and I can't wait to see you :-)

Boxes:  Our crib came in and is still in the box were it will probably stay for a bit.  We also got the mobile from Pottery Barn and let me tell you I think my house is to small for Pottery Barn.  I bought the large mobile thinking it just meant it had more butterflies on it not that the butterflies are hug!!  Soooooo change of plans we will hang the butterfly mobile towards the middle of the room vs. right over the crib.  This is because I have the tree decal on the wall that the crib will go and it will just be way to much going on, on that wall if I have these butterflies and the tree.  I am thinking we probably won't put a mobile on the crib (do they really need it?).

Envelope:  I had ordered a Quilt Kit from an Etsy store to have something creative to work on and the kit came in the mail today, yay!  It's a rag quilt and seems simple to put together so when I get to do it then it should go fast.

Excitement of the day:  After going to the Dr. for a blood draw on my way to work I noticed the other side of the highway was empty.  Well turns out I saw Joe Biden's motorcade driving on that side of the highway, well that explains it.  At first I thought it was Obama leaving but he left yesterday.  It's just amazing, I am glad I was not on the other side of the road because they shut that down for miles while waiting for him to go through.

Tomorrow:  The big news is I get a hair cut tomorrow afternoon after not having a haircut since because I got pregnant and it is way past due.  My hair dresser is a very busy lady so when I asked for an appointment she only had one tomorrow later in the afternoon or in Oct!!!  I can not wait till Oct. this hair is out of control and I am going on vacation next week.

Oh and one more thing, tomorrow is 17 weeks and we get another 3D ultrasound on Saturday (for free) to see if we can get a look at her little face.  Let's just hope she turns around this time.

New Nursery Items

Yesterday Jerry and I both found some items in IKEA and online.  We had gone to IKEA to pick up the crib that matches the inspiration room which was also rated highly in our Baby Bargains book only to find out they were on recall to add a new mandated locking system.  Oh well it wasn't meant to be.

I went there with an intention on looking at the dressers they had but thinking I wouldn't find one, but it turned out that's one of the only things we purchased.  We found a nice long dresser that we will use as our changing table, but it is long enough for us to put other items on as well.  We also purchases a small matching nightstand to put next to the rocking chair.  We found a small lamp that will sit on the night stand.

After coming home a little disappointed at not having a Crib we went online to order a few things.  I finally got to (now that it is a girl) order a butterfly mobile I had been eyeing on clearance at Pottery Barn Kids.  I had also been looking for a decorative mirror to hang on the wall over the changing pad and after much searching I couldn't find exactly what I wanted but I did find a cute mirror at Pottery Barn Kids so I ordered that as well.  Jerry found a crib for the same price we had planned to spend at IKEA online at Amazon so we went ahead and ordered that and it should be here next week.

So now all we are missing of the big nursery furniture is a rocker and stool.  The one we want costs a bit so we might not get that for a few months.

Here are pictures of some of things we got:
This is the crib Jerry found, the funny thing is it looks just like one
I had sketched in my sketch of the nursery
I love this mobile and I hope little Annabelle does as well
We got the large one as we like the style better
9/11:
On a day like 9/11 when so many people are missing their loved ones who were lost in such a tragic way I can't help but have a heavy heart.  I am grateful my family was not effected but I will never forget were I was when the planes hit the twin towers and I hope our Annabelle never has to experience anything like that.   May this world turn around for the sake of our children.

It's a............

Today we went to prenatal peek to see if we could find out if we are having a boy or a girl.  It didn't start out to promising as I didn't have a full enough bladder so I had to go drink 4 more cups of water (oh man did I have to pee) and then our little one would not turn over or wake up at first.

Our ultrasound tech was so nice.  She tried shaking the baby to wake it up to show us the goods.  The baby would turn over for a min and then turn back.

Well I am sure you are saying "GET TO THE GOODS" well here it is we are having a GIRL!!!!!  There was no little boy parts and we saw the 3 lines.  Jerry is still in shock and I think he asked more than once if she was sure it was a girl. LOL  We got several pictures and a video.  In the video you will see some shaking and that is us shaking my belly trying to wake her up.  Several times she just buried her head in the placenta and wouldn't let us see her face on the 3D.

IKEA turned out to be a disappointment as they didn't have the crib because it was on a recall to put a lock in place and won't be back in the store till November.  We did get a bureau and a night stand for the babies room and a few small things.  What a long day with that long drive, but it was so much fun seeing the baby today!  Now to start to buy some PINK!!!

Tomorrow is the Day!

Yes it is finally here, and in less than 24 hours we will know if we are having a boy or a girl (hopefully).  I wanted to leave a quick note to tell you my appointment is at 10am EST but we will be heading to IKEA afterwards that is about 2.5hrs away.  Soooo that means I might not be able to update you all until tomorrow night, so check back tomorrow night.

I should get some good pictures and I think we get a video also.  I just hope our little one shows the goods.  I am going to drink OJ on my way over to the place to wake him/her up.  It really doesn't matter to me what it is, I just can't wait to find out!  This way we can start using the name vs. him, her, it and little pumpkin.

We Are Now 16 Weeks:  "Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop."

The Wait is On...

I was right, having a long weekend is making the time fly to get closer to our BIG ultrasound on Saturday.  Just think tomorrow is already Wednesday!  I am so confused on what this baby could be; at first I was convinced it was a girl but now I am leaning towards boy.  Be it a girl or a boy all I can say is IT is being good to Mommy.  The only thing I have really is being tired often, not sleeping through the night and vivid crazy dreams.  I never had morning sickness and I can eat just about all the same foods as before (though some don't sound as good as others) of course I have put on weight but that's to be expected seeing as though I wasn't sick during my first trimester.

The Weekend:  Very busy but not exciting.  We had a lot of errands to run and Jerry worked on mowing the yard and seeding while I planted the new herbs and mums we picked up from the farmers market (the last herbs we grew from a seed met a hot, no drainage, death.. OOPS!  We fixed the drainage issue so let's just see if we can keep these alive.

We tried out two new restaurants "Thai Cafe" and "Cafe Carolina" and both get two thumbs up from us.  We also checked out "Buy Buy Baby" in Durham and found we like that store better than Babies R Us, we just wish we had one a little closer to us.  "Buy Buy Baby" is owned by Bed Bath & Beyond and you so can tell from the store layout, we will defiantly be going back as it seemed to be a nicer store.

Monday was one of those days were you want to do something but you have no idea what you want to do so you end up doing nothing much at all (oh come on you know the mood I am talking about).  We tried to go to Joann's fabric to get some fabric to make a quilt but I realized I really want to know if it is a boy or a girl first. We then went up to Mellow Mushroom for dinner (love their pizza) and it was yummy!

It was also a big Rummy 500 weekend and Jerry and I seemed to take turns winning although the game last night was pathetic he beat me 520 to 10, that one was the worst game we played yet.

Jerry and I talked about starting another blog about hiking and visiting state parks and little out of the way restaurants in mostly Raleigh Durham and I think he is going to go ahead and do that.  We have so many parks and restaurants and we love both that it only make sense.  We need to get over to this place called Shelley lake to check it out as it has walking trails, park and fishing and we want to find a good place to take the baby.

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Babies Heartbeat Video

You need to listen closely but you can hear the babies heartbeat on my doppler.  The heartbeat reading isn't accurate as the heartbeat is hard to get still so it doesn't pick up every beat.

15 Weeks !!

As I said when I started this blog that I was sure time would both fly and stand still at times, and though it feels like we have been waiting forever to be within one week of finding out if our little pumpkin is a boy or a girl we are now only 1 week away!

The good news is this is a long weekend making next week shorter and making Sept. 10th get here all that much faster.  After we find out what we are having we are going to get a few more things for the little pumpkin and I so can't wait to know if we will be buying blue or pink.  Jerry swears it is a boy and he might be right and I have felt like it is a girl, well at least we both can't be wrong.

I am hoping with the long weekend we can do something fun this weekend, I can't believe we have not been to the beach once this year (was WAY to hot for a long time).  I do know we are going to check out Buy Buy Baby (store) and a Thai restaurant a friend suggested.  Are lawn also needs to be mowed desperately, that's a Jerry job.

Baby Bump:  Still looks like I am just fat : ( but the good news is I don't feel uncomfortable really other than my ligaments stretching a little.

Week 15:  "Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")"
